Rescue the Rescuers! Free Sarah, Sean and Nassos Oct 20
From months to years activists Sara, Sean and Nassos have been held in prison on the island of Lesbos in Greece for their “crime” of assisting migrants on the island.
They have been accused of giving migrants warm blankets and water; of helping people from boats as they’ve come on to shore. In the camps, these rescuers have assisted in translations, worked to ensure that migrants had clean clothes and bedding, and in general acted as concerned ears and eyes to help migrants with the trauma of their experiences.
Yet in August 2018 all three were arrested and since then have sat in jail, accused of allegedly being part of a criminal organization, spying, and profiting from human trafficking.
These alleged crimes could come with up to 20 years in jail if the three rescuers are found guilty by Greek courts!
We need your help! We need to show these three rescuers that they are not alone and not forgotten. RESCUE THE RESCUERS is a call for solidarity, a protest march with music and theater and speeches in support of these three brave individuals.
